1. New York Giants (Ghostnipples)- Week one got underway with the Panthers at the Giants. The G-Men dominated the Cats from Charlotte with a lop sided 42-10 victory. Carolina had no answer for the overpowering run game as Frank Gore and Leon Washington combined for 193 yards. A dominate showing by the G-men put them ahead of the rest in week one in my eyes, but not by far
2. Minnesota Vikings (Gdip)- The Vikes had something to cheer about when the they took the field Sunday. Minnesota scored 56 points in their season opener in the Super Dome. The D gave up some yards thru the air but got those turnovers when they counted. They also stuffed the run allowing only 50 yards on the ground. On the offensive side of the ball former Heisman winner Ricky Williams ate the Saints D alive with 149 yards and 3 TD’s. If they can pull off another game like this look for them in the #1 spot next week.
3. Seattle Seahawks (Atown117)- What comes to mind when you think of the Seahawks? A.P. that’s what! And Sunday was no different, Peterson chewed up the Broncos D and spit em’ out. With 200+ yards against one of the best linebacking cores in the league, who’s gonna stop him? Maybe some weakness in the pass defense but all around a great day. If they can make improvements in their secondary....They will be unstoppable.
4. Cincinnati Bengals (AwaLL2k10)- The boys in orange are for real. With Brees under center and young stud Jonathan Stewart running the ball this offence could be something to watch. And the defense aren't pansies either....MJD 2 yards! Now that’s saying something. Bengals hand out a 34-18 butt whoopin to the Pats in Foxborough.
5. Pittsburgh Steelers (Daniel Knugs)- Pittsburgh have arguably the best secondary in the league and they showed that Sundays against the Falcons. Falcons QB Chad Henne was forced to throw and couldn’t do anything with it putting up only 148 yards and throwing two picks. Looks like the Steel Curtain is back to its roots.
6. St. Louis Rams (Bdon8407)- The Greatest Show on Turf is back only this time its Mark Sanchez taking the snaps. With targets like Percy Harvin and Vernon Davis he should do just fine in his second year. Sunday he threw for nearly 200 yards and 3 TD’s against the Cardinals D. And we can’t forget bout Steven Jackson in the backfield who was only 2 yards short of the century mark.
7. Detroit Lions (SWag IT OUT09)- Been along time since the Lions have cracked the top ten, but they're here now. The game with the division rival Bears started a little rough for the Lions going into the half down 14-26. But QB Matt Ryan rallied the troops and brought them back to win 52-46. A lot of offence in this one but if the D can’t step up I don’t look for them to be this high on the charts next week.
8. Miami Dolphins (icecold9000)- The Dolphins very easily could have been in my top five but this league is stacked, lets see what happens in week two. The Miami D controlled the Bills all day allowing only 245 total yards of offence and only 7 points. As for the South Beach team’s Offence...Michael “The Burner” Turner could be hard to stop this season. 161 yards on the ground and another 26 yards receiving.
9. Washington Redskins (SIN 210)- This game was a nail biter goin into the half. But the Skins D didn’t allow a single point in the second half. If this defense is on, Washington could shoot way up the board next week. 4 sacks and 1 int on the day for Washington as the beat the Cowboys 28-14.
10. Philadelphia Eagles (ATLMike2)- Philly rounds out my top ten but not by much they get by the Packers 21-17. Rookie QB Sam Bradford makes is debut look easy with 209 yards and 2 TD’s. This was a close won. The Eagles need to win more convincingly for me to move them up from the 10 spot.
